Welcome to the Environment Directorate Homepage
Iwan Prys Jones - Corporate Director of Environment
The Environment Directorate consists of a number of services, including Transport and Infrastructure, Environmental Services, Planning and Public Protection Services, Development Services and a Support, Finance and Performance Team. The common theme of all of these services is that they by and large provide the majority of front line services, which impact on environmental, regeneration and transport issues throughout Denbighshire. Almost every resident or visitor to Denbighshire will take advantage of the services that the Directorate provides, and their impression of the way the County looks and feels will come from the way in which we deliver our work.
The Directorate employs approximately 1,000 people across most of the Council's office locations, and a number of operating depots. The Directorate also provides a range of services for schools and other public bodies, including catering services, cleaning services, fleet maintenance and street lighting. The Council also provides parking services and a sign shop facility, for a number of other local authorities across North Wales.
The Directorate's key priorities include ensuring that the image of Denbighshire to its residents and visitors is maintained at the highest possible standard, this includes proactive enforcement work, to maintain acceptable standards in all of the towns, villages and communities of Denbighshire. The Directorate also delivers high level regeneration work on behalf of the County Council, in many of our communities. A significant focus of regeneration activity is built around the comprehensive Rhyl Going Forward development strategy.
