The last accommodation stock survey for the Denbighshire area was undertaken in 1995 under the former Clwyd County Authority. The process involves taking a snapshot view of the County’s accommodation, ranging from small bed and breakfasts to large corporate hotels as well as including self-contained holiday flatlets and major caravan parks.
From visiting these sites, we can then build an accurate picture of those businesses that are still trading, those which are no longer trading and those which have expanded since the last survey. A short confidential verbal questionnaire allows us to ascertain the total number of bed spaces in each business. Once the survey is completed, this gives us an accurate database and an accommodation stock and bed space stock figure for the whole County. These figures are then used in projects and applications by the County.
The Survey is in two parts:-
The Street Survey entails visiting all of Denbighshire’s accommodation establishments and conducting a short questionnaire with the owner / manager.
The Desk Survey takes place after the Street Survey and is a cross check of the information obtained in the street survey.
