FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

The purpose of the Freedom of Information Act is to ensure open and transparent management of public bodies.

The Act gives a general right of access to all types of information held by any public authority. As a result any individual or organisation can request information, by letter or e-mail, held by Denbighshire County Council.

For its part Denbighshire County Council must respond to the request and supply the information to you within 20 working days. However there are occasions when exemptions apply and we will not be able to supply you with the information you want. Here are a sample of questions that Denbighshire County Council has responded to since the introduction of the Act in January 2005:


What is the cost of commissioning the art work for the courtyard at the new council offices in Ruthin and where has the funding come from?

 
Following a visit to Rhyl skate park I require information on cost, how long it took to build, maintenance costs and pictures to enable an approach to my local Council for a similar facility to be built.


How many pupils were excluded from your secondary schools in 2002/03, 2003/04 and 2004/05?


A copy of the Council's policy and strategy on landfill/dumping of waste at disused quarries.
