Environmental Information Regulations

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION

The purpose of the Environmental Information Regulations is to give certain rights of access to environmental information to the general public.

The Regulations give a general right of access to all environmental information held by any public authority.  As a result any individual or organisation can request environmental information verbally, by letter or e-mail, which is held by Denbighshire County Council.

For its part Denbighshire County Council must respond to the request and supply the information to you within 20 working days.  However, there are occasions when exemptions apply and we will not be able to supply you with the information you want.  There may also be a charge for responding to requests for environmental information.

Here are samples of questions that Denbighshire County Council has responded to in relation to environmental information since the new Regulations came into force on the 1st January 2005:

Information on the cost of repairing & maintaining tracks in the Llangollen area.

Details of all local air pollution control sites.

Information regarding landfill site including details of materials accepted at the landfill, monitoring results, and whether the site has been redeveloped.

The amount of revenue generated through allowing mobile phone masts on Council property.
