A career in Trading Standards
Give feedback on this pageTo become a Trading Standards Officer, you will firstly either need:
• A Consumer Protection Degree or Postgraduate Diploma that is accredited by the Trading Standards Institute (TSI), or
• Experience as a Consumer Adviser or Enforcement Officer in a Trading Standards department.
You must then get a job as a Trainee Trading Standards Officer, and study for the Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS).
Should you be interested in studying for a degree or postgraduate diploma that is accredited by the Trading Standards Institute you should apply either through the UCAS system or contact one of the Universities listed under the 'External Links' to the left of this page.
