School support staff make a vital contribution to pupils' learning and achievement.  With the introduction of a new programme of training and assessment against national professional Standards, support staff who achieve the status of higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) will be able to offer proven skills to support teachers even more effectively in the future.

Attached is an application pack for prospective candidates for the Higher Level Teaching Assistant status together with information of an important meeting, which Headteachers should have already received.  We kindly ask you to ensure that all your support staff e.g. classroom/teaching assistants/nursery nurses etc receive this information.
