Staff from Denbighshire schools will return to the classroom to learn life saving techniques that can be delivered in training sessions for pupils.
Organisers of the Denbighshire Healthy Schools Scheme have teamed up with the Welsh Ambulance Service and the British Heart Foundation as part of the Heartstart UK initiative for schools.
Training will be provided for up to four members of staff from schools and resources such as CPR manikins will be provided to deliver sessions on life saving skills.
To date, 30 schools in the county have expressed an interest in developing the programme in their schools.
Dafydd Jones-Morris, Regional Director for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “I am very pleased that we can help pass on the knowledge to these staff and pupils about the value of having life-saving skills. It is a proven fact that having basic life-saving skills can make a big difference to a patient facing a life-threatening scenario.
“We welcome this chance to help encourage the youngsters to become move involved with first aid training which will be an additional benefit for communities across Denbighshire. We hope to expand on this scheme in the future as part of our modernisation programme for the Welsh Ambulance Service.”
The next training session will take place at Middle Lane, Denbigh on November 28th.
