10/25/2007 - Careers honour for Rhyl school

Staff and pupils at Ysgol Tir Morfa, Rhyl are celebrating being awarded a prestigious  careers award.
The school has gained the Careers Wales Quality Award for Careers Education and Guidance and Work Related Education.
The award was presented by John Griffiths, the Assembly’s Deputy Minister for Children, Education and Lifelong Learning at a prestigious presentation at  Llandrindod Wells on October 25th.
A portfolio of evidence was submitted following an external assessment visit. The portfolio looked at student achievement, overall management, people management, partnerships, processes, resources, evaluation and continuous improvement.
The report summarised that Ysgol Tir Morfa provides an excellent programme of high quality careers and work related activities for students in an appropriate and purposeful manner.  It adds that students are well prepared for the next steps in their education, training and employment.
Headteacher Steve Murphy said: “I would like to thank Phil Thomas and all the staff that are involved in delivering these aspects of the school provision and for putting together such a strong portfolio about our work.”
