11/06/2007 - Bright lights of Denbigh

The newly installed Denbigh Town Wall lights will be officially switched on next week.

The Mayor of Denbigh, Cllr Colin Hughes, will do the honours on Tuesday November 13 at 5:45 p.m.

The lights have been funded by DESSERT following a successful application by Denbigh Town Council with support from Denbigh Town Business Group.

DESSERT (Denbighshire Evening and Shoulder Season Encouraging Regeneration and Tourism)  is an EU Objective 1 project.

The project seeks to encourage activity in all towns in Denbighshire during traditionally quiet times such as early evenings and winter months.

Denbighshire street lighting department installed the lights following a demonstration which was attended and supported by county councillors, the Denbigh Town Business Group, Castle Area Residents Association and the Town Council.
The new lights in addition to the current lighting on the castle will make the walls more accessible and will bring enjoyment and business benefit to the town.  The walls will now be visible from a much greater distance and will act as a draw for the town.

Anyone wishing to attend should go to Bryn Park at the top of Bull Lane in Denbigh for 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 2007.
