Passengers using Rhyl Bus Station can now take advantage of a brand new service that will keep bus users up to speed with the latest timetable and travel information.
Staff will be on hand on Mondays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to give passengers all the information they need to use any operators’ bus services.
Rhyl bus station is among the busiest in North Wales and sees over 160,000 arrivals and departures each year, from five bus companies. The introduction in recent years of free travel for people over 60 and cheaper travel for eligible young people has seen passenger numbers grow significantly.
Frequent buses run to Denbigh, St Asaph, Rhuddlan, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Chester, Deeside, Flint, Holywell, Llandudno, Conwy and Abergele, as well as local destinations. Buses also operate hourly to Ruthin and Corwen, and three times a day to Wrexham.
Denbighshire ‘s Corporate Director – Environment, Iwan Prys-Jones said, “We are pleased to offer a facility of this nature in a bus station as busy as Rhyl’s. It will greatly assist passengers in using public transport. There is much to do at Rhyl Bus Station in terms of making it an acceptable environment for passengers and this joint venture goes some way towards starting these improvements. It demonstrates that the Council is committed to improving Rhyl Bus Station.”
Arriva North West and Wales Operations Director Tom Balshaw added, “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Denbighshire County Council, and this will be a great benefit both for regular bus users and occasional visitors to the town.
“An information office was last available to the public more than 10 years ago. Its reintroduction is a significant step forward and we look forward to welcoming passengers, old and new.”
