Denbighshire County Council is committed to preventing and investigating Benefit Fraud.
The Council wants everyone who is entitled to claim benefits to apply for them. However, whilst most people claim honestly a small number abuse the system. Nationally, millions of pounds are stolen this way every year. This directly affects the amount of Council Tax that is paid by the residents of Denbighshire County Council, as well as reducing the amount which is available to those who are genuinely in need.
The Council’s Compliance Section has a dedicated team who investigate allegations of abuse. Where we find evidence of abuse we will recover any amounts incorrectly paid and where appropriate prosecute fraudsters, or impose financial penalties.
You can help the Council by reporting anyone who you suspect is committing Benefit Fraud. Any information provided will be treated in strict confidence and you do not have to give your name.
