11/08/2007 - Council responds to traffic calming views

Denbighshire County Council has revised its plans for traffic calming measures along Bryn Cwnin Road, Rhyl after listening to responses received during a consultation period.

Following the consultation exercise undertaken during the summer, significant opposition to the proposed speed cushions (road humps) was received. As a result,  an alternative scheme is now being proposed.

The speed cushions have been taken out of the plans and  the  scheme will now consist of coloured centre hatching, a traffic island and two vehicle activated signs. These signs will be similar to the existing one on Rhuddlan Road.

The scheme will extend along almost the whole length of Bryn Cwnin Road.

The County Councillors for Rhyl South ward, Councillors Jeanette Chamberlain-Jones and Thomas Hodgson are both using their entire Members’ Priority Fund Allocations to fund the project.

The Council will now be consulting with residents along Bryn Cwnin Road, as well as Rhyl Town Council, bus operator and the emergency services.

Any responses to the consultation should be forwarded to Mike Jones, Traffic department, Denbighshire County Council, Caledfryn, Smithfield Road, Denbigh, LL16 3RU.  The closing date for comments will be December 7, 2007.
