11/08/2007 - Have your say on race equality

Public organisations in North Wales are inviting the public to have their say on Race Equality in the region.

Two consultation events have been arranged for Tuesday, 20 November and members of the public are urged to get involved and share their opinions on how race equality issues can affect public services.

Organised by Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council, Gwynedd County Council, Anglesey County Council, Flintshire County Council, Conwy & Denbighshire NHS Trust, Welsh Ambulance Trust, Local Health Boards and North West Wales NHS Trust the consultation events are aimed at anyone living or working in the area.

The events will take place at Conwy Business Centre, Llandudno Junction at 2pm and 6pm.

Councillor Janet Finch-Saunders, Conwy’s Equalities Champion, said “Public organisations in North Wales are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and to eliminating unlawful discrimination. Our overall aim is to build a strong, cohesive community and we can only do this by meeting the needs of all groups regardless of race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion/belief and language.  That’s why events like this are so important, it gives people the opportunity to speak out or to discuss issues that affect them.”

Discussion groups will take place in the following main languages identified in North Wales:  Welsh, English, Polish, Filipino and Chinese.

To book your place on either the 2pm or 6pm session, please send an email to equalities@conwy.gov.uk or telephone 01492 576225.  Please confirm if you have any special requirements, such as equipment, language (including BSL) and so on.    If you are unable to attend but want to be involved, please contact us and we will send you a questionnaire.
