11/16/2007 - Young people having a say in Denbighshire

Young people’s issues and European matters will be on the agenda of the first meeting of Denbighshire’s Youth Council taking place later this month.

The meeting of the Denbighshire Youth Council takes place at Ruthin Youth Centre on Denbigh Road, Ruthin on Saturday, November 24th from 1.30pm-4pm.

This first meeting has been arranged in response to the high level of interest and enthusiasm shown by young people who recently attended an event as part of National Democracy Week,  facilitated by Denbighshire Youth Service.

The day will include workshops on Youth Councils and how they work, including sessions on young people’s rights. There will be an opportunity for the group to choose and plan a residential trip for 2008.

Also representatives form the Europe Direct initiative will be present and will urge youngsters to join the Denbighshire European Forum which is being set up. The Forum is a group for those passionate, interested or intrigued with European issues, politics and relations.

Those interested in attending the workshops at Ruthin should call Debbie Owens on 01745 345234 or via e-mail: debbie.owens@denbighshire.
