Dead Animals
Dead Animals
Environmental Services will collect and dispose of dead animals found on the roads or in other public places. This service is provided for the safety of road users and to protect the health of the public.
The Council will not turn out to collect small animals because they present a minimal risk to road safety or public health. Retrieving dead animals from roads can be hazardous and we therefore prefer to allow nature to take its course with small animals. The Council does not have the resources to collect and dispose of every animal that dies in a public place.
Animals that we will collect include:
- Deer
- Badgers
- Foxes
- Otters
- Sheep
- Dogs
- Cats
- Swans
- Whales
- Dolphins
- Porpoises
- Seals
- Animals LARGER than these.
Animals that we will NOT collect include:
- Rabbits
- Hares
- Stoats
- Weasels
- Rats
- Pheasants
- Seagulls
- Pigeons
- Ducks
- Animals SMALLER than these.
