Top Housing Award on its way to Denbighshire

Denbighshire County Council and partners raised the roof at a prestigious housing industry awards ceremony after winning a top accolade.  This is the culmination of a considerable amount of work by staff from planning, housing, legal and the housing associations – Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd, Pennaf and Wales & West.

The Council’s Affordable Housing Strategy was awarded the Providing Housing Choice and Affordability honour at the glittering UK Housing Awards ceremony at the London Hilton Hotel. The strategy was up against tough competition from Cardiff, Birmingham, Notting Hill and Sentinel.

The Council was also a finalist in the Outstanding Achievement in Housing in Wales category.

Chief Executive Ian Miller said: “To win this national affordable housing award at this prestigious event is a feather in the cap of staff from housing, planning, legal departments and housing associations who have worked tirelessly in creating the strategy which provides a blueprint for improving housing conditions for local people across the county.
“This is not the first time for the Council to be nominated for a UK housing award - this shows that the industry sees the work going on in Denbighshire as an example of best practice that should be highlighted on a national level.
“I would like to offer my personal congratulations to all those involved in this achievement.”
