Coastal Access - have your say.

Coastal Access is part of a pan Wales Coastal Access Improvement Programme. This is a scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government via the Countryside Council for Wales to improve access to the coast for local communities and visitors through local path improvements, including circular routes, around the coast. The Coastal Zone includes all land 2km from the coast line.

Aims
· Improve and create new disabled and pram access
· Improve and create new routes for cycling and horse riders
· Improving public rights of way links to connect to the coastal zone

The targets for the Coastal Zone for Wales are:
· Creation of 80 km of new pedestrian access
· 100km of new cycling access
· 50km of new horse riding access
· 10% of coastal routes to have improved access for people with mobility problems
· Improve standard of public footpaths within coastal zone.

The long term plan is to create an excellent coastal path, spanning the entire shoreline of Wales and connecting existing trails in order to have a continuous all-Wales coastal path substantially in place by 2012/13.

Have your say
Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any ideas about possible projects, or specific locations you think need improving either within the zone or routes that link to the zone. Even if it is not possible to fund all suggested projects at this stage any input will be valuable for future planning.
