Rocks etc on the Highway Verge

The placing of rocks, logs or any other obstruction on the highway verge constitutes an obstruction to the highway. Where such obstructions are brought to the attention of the County Council we will ask for them to be removed. If this is not done we have the power to remove the obstruction and recover the costs incurred from the persons responsible.

However, if there is a particular problem in any particular location then please discuss this with Highways staff (via the e mail link on this page) to determine if other methods (hazard marker posts for example) can be utilised then we would be happy to cooperate.
