Healthy Denbighshire

The Library Service supports the aims of the 'Healthy Denbighshire' strategy, to improve the health and well-being of the people of the County. This is done in two ways. Firstly by providing a comprehensive library and information service.

  • Good quality enjoyable books to read
  • Large print books
  • Audio books
  • Information to enable users to improve their lives and life-chances
  • Lifelong learning opportunities
  • Free computer and internet use

And also by providing specific, special collections and services

  • Book Prescription Wales
  • Bookstart
  • Children's Information Service
  • Rainbow Book
  • 'Denbighshire Remembers' events
  • Jobcentre Plus/Careers Wales

In the financial year 2007/2008 the County Council added £15,000 to the Bookfund to buy materials to support the Health, Social Care and Well-Being Strategy. This was used to buy a variety of stock, including books on:-

  • Specific illnesses and conditions
  • Healthy eating and nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Alternative Therapies
  • Looking for work
  • Improving skills
  • Everyday Law
