Geometry Of Fear
reg butler - girl and boy

Geometry of Fear
26 July–6 Sept 08
A Spotlight Exhibition from the Arts Council Collection, looking at a new generation of artists, including Lyn Chadwick, Reg Butler and Kenneth Armitage, whose work came to prominence in the post-war years. The work was characterised by spiky twisted forms, usually of the human figure or animals. With these linear forms they introduced new ways of working with welded metals, and to a large extent they reflected some of the fears and anxieties of the post-war period.

Also featuring contemporary metalwork
by Ann Catrin Evans.

Sept 2nd, 7.30pm. Poetry inspired by Geometry of Fear from Kelvin Corcoran, with introduction to the collection by Ann Jones (Hayward Gallery).
