Whistleblowing
What is Whistleblowing?
Blowing the whistle is when you tell your employer about a dangerous or illegal activity that you have come across through your work.
Whistleblowing can relate to a variety of situations:
- health and safety risks,
- potential environmental problems,
- fraud, corruption,
- deficiencies in the care of vulnerable people,
- cover-ups, and
- other problems.
The Whistleblowing Policy is not for employees to raise concerns about their own situation or for the public to make complaints. Please see the Council's other policies and procedures for this.
