07/28/2008 - Calling all Vale of Clwyd evacuees!
Did you have evacuees from Liverpool staying with you in the Vale of Clwyd during the 1940s? Or were you maybe an evacuee yourself who came to stay in the area?
To celebrate Liverpool's status as European Capital of Culture, Denbighshire County Council's Heritage Service is putting together an exhibition of evacuees' life in the Vale of Clwyd, which will be displayed at Ruthin Gaol throughout August.
An Evacuees tea-party will also be held at Nantclwyd y Dre on Monday 25th August at 4pm to coincide with the exhibition. A book of memories will be written and the author will be present at the tea party, giving anyone who would like their story to be captured in print the chance to do so.
If you have any material, letters, photographs or items of the period, or if you'd like to come along to the tea party, please contact Kevin Matthias, the County Archivist on 01824 708251 or e.mail kevin.matthias@denbighshire.gov.uk
Alternatively, drop into Nantclwyd y Dre (open Fri-Sun 10am -5pm) and leave your contact details and information in brief.
