07/29/2008 - Update on the redeployment of staff from Hyfrydle

Denbighshire County Council is pleased to announce that, to date, 10 staff from Hyfrydle have been found alternative posts at Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn and the school’s residential unit, Gerddi Glasfryn in Denbigh.

24 members of staff have been affected by the closure, which was announced on July 9, and interviews have been conducted over the past few days with ten posts at Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn and the Gerddi Glasfryn site now filled. Four members of staff have been successful in gaining appointments as residential child care officers, two as night staff and a further four have been taken on as learning support assistants.

Denbighshire remains committed to supporting the remaining Hyfrydle staff and will continue to do so in every way possible until they find other employment with the council or leave our employment for work elsewhere.

Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council, Ian Miller, said: “We will continue to support all staff from Hyfrydle to try to assist them in finding alternative employment with the council.”
