Denbighshire County Council staff were out in force to help people in difficulty during last night’s (Monday’s) storm.
At just after 10 p.m., torrential rain led to flooding in the Lenten Pool area of Denbigh. A co-ordinated response by the Emergency Response Team ensured that over 10 officers were at the scene of the flooding, helping the Fire Service. Two vehicles, one from Ruthin and one from Kinmel, delivered sandbags to Lenten Pool and a further two crews were called to assist.
Five properties were affected and initially one family needed to be evacuated and accommodated overnight. Although emergency accommodation was found in a local bed and breakfast, the family decided to stay at their property.
As the heavy rain persisted, the teams were dealing with other flood related incidents, although nothing of a serious nature, until around 1 a.m.
Further rain was forecast from 3 a.m. and two crews at each depot were kept on stand-by for the remainder of the night, but there were no more problems.
