07/30/2008 - Blue Badge inspections

Denbighshire County Council Parking Services have set up an initiative with North Wales Police for inspecting Blue Badges used in Denbighshire.

A Denbighshire civil enforcement officer and a police officer inspected blue badges in Rhyl yesterday (Tuesday).  Their intention was to make people aware that checks were being made.  They informed people that any badges being misused could be confiscated by North Wales Police.  They also let people know that they could be issued with a fixed penalty if the driver of a vehicle was using a badge incorrectly.

They spoke to many people and explained what they were doing.  These checks will be continuing each week on differing days.

These inspections are not  designed to diminish the freedom currently enjoyed by genuine badge holders.  The objective is to detect offences or simply to confirm that a person making use of the parking concessions is entitled to do so.
