07/31/2008 - Rhyl man fined for benefit fraud
Denbighshire’s Benefit Fraud Team, working in conjunction with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) were successful in securing a conviction for benefit fraud at Prestatyn Magistrates Court on July 29th.
The case was brought against Brian Harris, 69 Gwynfryn Ave, Rhyl.
Brian Harris was found guilty on two charges of failing to notify DWP of a change of circumstances and failing to notify Denbighshire County Council of the same.
Mr Harris had failed to report his employment and resulted in an overpayment of Housing Benefit of £4,628.26 Council Tax Benefit of £1,088.42, and Pension Credit of £2,614.56
He was sentenced to 100 hours Community Service and must pay £75 costs.
