08/12/2008 - Grant funding success for first time buyers

First time buyers in parts of Denbighshire can apply for a share of £75,000 funding after Denbighshire County Council successfully applied for a Welsh Assembly Government grant to make homes more energy efficient.

This scheme will enable Denbighshire to provide financial assistance to first time buyers of existing dwellings within renewal areas of West Parade (Rhyl), Rhyl South West/East and Denbigh Central for capital costs for energy efficiency improvement measures or with installation of renewable energy measures.

Applicants will need to have completed the purchase of their property after 27 June 2007 and must occupy the dwelling as their only or main residence. The applicants can apply for up to £5,000 funding.

Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: 'We are delighted to have been successful in the bid for Welsh Assembly Government funding for first time buyers to benefit from more efficient energy improvement measures in their homes.

“Buying a property for the first time can be a daunting and costly time and this funding would go a long way for first time buyers looking to improving the efficiency of their homes.'
