08/13/2008 - A Cultural Show for Denbighshire

Denbighshire County Council will be showcasing the cultural delights of the county at a prestigious event in the agricultural calendar next week.

The theme of the Council's marquee at the Denbighshire and Flintshire Show, being staged at The Green, Denbigh on Thursday, August 21 will be County of Culture and forms part of a programme of activities county-wide to promote the diverse culture of Denbighshire.

Show-goers are urged to visit the marquee and find information about the wealth of walking routes in the county, attractions for visitors and residents and a host of cultural activities to keep people entertained all year round.

Visitors can learn about the Heather and Hillforts project which has been set up to protect and enhance the heather moorlands and hillforts of the Clwydian Range and Llantysilio Mountain.

A harpist will be performing at the marquee at intervals during the day and youngsters can attend special storytelling workshops with storyteller Catherine Arran.

The Council will also take the opportunity to ask people their views on the priorities identified, which are: Modernising Education, responding to demographic change, regeneration and road and flood defences.

The Council’s marquee can be found in Row J, opposite the Members pavilion and the main ring.
