08/20/2008 - Consumer advice on holiday complaints

Denbighshire Trading Standards has joined forces with other trading standards units across Wales, Visit Wales and Consumer Direct Wales to offer advice and information about how to complain about your holiday.

This advice has been issued during Wales Consumer Affairs Week (August 18-22)

If you are taking a holiday, before you go:
· Take time to read all the terms and conditions before you book.
· Do some research – find out about where you are visiting – is it suitable for you and your family?
· Get any special requirements in writing before you book
· Take a copy of your booking and the brochure with you on holiday.

When you get there:
· Talk to the representative or the manager
· Put any complaint in writing as soon as possible
· Take photographs and video evidence
· Obtain addresses of other holidaymakers who want to complain

When you get home:
· Send a letter of complaint immediately
· Seek advice from Consumer Direct or Trading Standards.
