The Cymorth Fund

The Children & Young People’s Partnership manage the Welsh Assembly Government’s Cymorth Funding. The Funding has been available since 2005 to enable the Partnership to develop improved services and outcomes for children & young people.
The funds have clear objectives and criteria to ensure a range of services are developed to support children & young people (between 0 - 25 years of age) and their families
To ensure that services and support is targeted at those in greatest need the Cymorth gives priority to the Communities First areas, but Partnerships have discretion to offer certain services more widely and, if the decision can be justified, provide Cymorth funded projects in other disadvantaged areas.
Currently there are 25 projects funded by Cymorth, detailed within the Cymorth Catologue 2007-2008. These projects are now in the final third year of funding and a new “Commissioning Policy & Procedures” has been developed to allocate the funding for 2009-2011. £1.2m is available to directly support a range of projects that will meet the priorities of the Children & Young People’s Single Plan, the Youth Support Services Action Plan and the Cymorth Themes.

With the launch of the Single Plan the application process for Cymorth funding has become more robust.  Applicants will need to show how the proposed project links to the strategic aims of the Single Plan and the Youth Support Services Action Plan.

There is a greater emphasis on providing evidence to support your application.

The Background Summary, together with guidance notes within the application form itself, will assist applicants in thinking about how to address the requirements of the Cymorth application process.

An error with the Welsh version of the Cymorth 2009-11 application form has come to our attention. Question 31 should have read: "What would be the impact on Children and Young People, their families or the work of the Children and Young People’s Partnership if your project was not successful in obtaining funding?" not  "What would be the impact on Children and Young People, their families or the work of the Children and Young People’s Partnership if your project was successful in obtaining funding?". The application form has now been amended to reflect this. If you have already submitted an application in Welsh, we will take this error into account when sifting and assessing applications. We apologise for the error.
