Order and collect library books during Covid-19

You can now visit your local library to choose your own books. You will need to make an appointment to visit so that we can make sure there’s enough room to keep everyone safe. Please phone your local library to make an appointment.

Our Order and Collect service is still available if you’d prefer to order your books online or if you’d like us to choose them for you.

You can join Denbighshire Libraries for free online.

We will only be able to lend books from Denbighshire’s stock – we will not have access to books from other counties for the time being. The choice of stock is also currently limited as we wait for supplies of new books. We will do our best to get the books you want to you as quickly as we can.

The safety of our staff and customers is our priority and we are following Welsh Government guidance on how we handle library books. All books returned to the library will be quarantined for 72 hours.

How to order books for collection

Use our online catalogue

If you are looking for a specific book, you can request books through our online catalogue. This is the best way to request a specific title or author. There may be a waiting list for some popular titles – you will be added to the list. When the book is available for you, we will contact you to arrange an appointment for you to come to collect it.

Let us choose some books for you

If you would like us to choose some books for you from our shelves, we will do our best to choose books that meet your preferences. We can choose books for adults and children, the range of stock will be limited, and there will be a limit of 10 books per library card.

Order online from the order and collect library books service

Collecting your order

When your books are ready, we will contact you to arrange a collection appointment for you to come and collect them. If you cannot collect them yourself because you are shielding or self-isolating, you can ask a friend to collect on your behalf. If you do not have anyone to do this, we will arrange to deliver them to your doorstep.

Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible to avoid queues building up. Please wait outside at the designated place and wait until your name is called. Your books will be in a bag which will be placed on a table in the library entrance and you will be invited to step forward to pick them up. If you have mobility issues, please tell the member of staff when you are making your collection appointment and we can bring the bag to your car outside the library.

Returning library books

You can return books at the same appointment if you are also collecting books or you can call in to the library to drop the books off.

Automatic renewals and no late fines

All the books you currently have on loan, and any you borrow via Order and Collect will be automatically renewed so you do not need to worry about returning them on time, and you will not incurr any late fines.

Home Library Service

Our Home Library Service will be delivering as usual to its customers and we will contact you.

Order and Collect a Bookstart pack

If you haven’t received a Bookstart pack from your health visitor because of lockdown, you can collect one from your local library. Please phone the library to order a pack and arrange a collection appointment, or contact our Bookstart Team on Facebook (Denbighshire Bookstart) (external website).
