Non-recyclable waste collections

Bin collection dates: Christmas and New Year information

There are changes to some bin collection dates over the Christmas and New Year period. Please see our bin collection dates page for more information.

Non-recyclable waste is household waste that cannot be recycled or composted through the standard Council kerbside services.

Trolibocs service

  • Non-recyclable waste will be collected every 4 weeks from households on the Trolibocs service.
  • All households on the Trolibocs service will use a 240-litre wheelie bin for their non-recyclable waste collections.
  • Households without a 240-litre wheelie bin will be supplied with one.

240-litre blue (or black) wheelie bin

Non-recyclable waste.

  • Black and brown plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
  • Nappies
  • Wet wipes
  • Polystyrene
  • All remaining household waste that can't be recycled

Bag service

  • Non-recyclable waste will be collected every week from households on the bag service.
  • Households will use their new, black reusable bag and up to 1 full, single-use pink sack for non-recyclable waste.

Hessian Sack (Black)

Non-recyclable waste.

  • Black and brown plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
  • Nappies
  • Wet wipes
  • Polystyrene
  • All remaining household waste that can't be recycled

Please put your non-recyclable waste in the single-use pink sacks provided. (A roll of pink sacks will be supplied). You can put up to 1 full, single-use pink sack of non-recyclable waste inside your new black reusable bag for your weekly collection.

Communal bin service

  • Non-recyclable waste will be collected every 4 weeks from residents on the Communal bin service.
  • Residents on the Communal bin service will use their shared black 4-wheeled bin (with black lid) for non-recyclable waste.

Non-recyclable waste collections: What's changing? (Trolibocs service)

All households on the Trolibocs service will use a 240-litre wheelie bin for their non-recyclable waste collections.

If you currently have a 140/180-litre black wheelie bin and a larger 240-litre blue wheelie bin:

  • Please use your larger 240-litre blue wheelie bin for your non-recyclable waste.
  • Apply the sticker (enclosed with your information pack leaflet) to this bin, which will make clear to us the one you're keeping.
  • Stop using your 140/180-litre black wheelie bin and ensure it's empty.
  • We will collect your empty 140/180-litre black wheelie bin between Monday 3 June and Friday 2 August 2024.

If you currently have a 240-litre black wheelie bin and a 240-litre blue wheelie bin:

  • Please use your use the 240-litre wheelie bin that's in the best condition for your non-recyclable waste.
  • Apply the sticker (enclosed with your information pack leaflet) to this bin, which will make clear to us the one you're keeping.
  • Stop using the other 240-litre wheelie bin and ensure it's empty.
  • We will collect your other empty 240-litre wheelie bin between Monday 3 June and Friday 2 August 2024.

Households on the Trolibocs service without a 240-litre wheelie bin will be provided with one.

Sticker

Please apply the sticker enclosed with your information pack leaflet to the wheelie bin that you're keeping for your non-recyclable waste.
