Cooling towers and evaporative condensers

If your premises operates or contains a cooling tower or evaporative condenser, then you must let us know. We should also be notified if the unit is decommissioned and/or disinfected, or where there is a change in owner (within one month).

Cooling towers and evaporative condensers are often linked to outbreaks of legionnaires disease. Legionnaires disease is a pneumonia type illness, caused by the bacteria, Legionella pneumophila. The bacteria is carried in small water droplets and is commonly found in poorly maintained cooling towers.

Operators of cooling towers and evaporative condensers should ensure they are maintained, through cleaning and disinfecting regimes.

How to register a cooling tower or evaporative condenser
