Online Safety, Risks And Balance: Minority Ethnic Youth In The Digital World

This forum will explore how minority ethnic young people experience and navigate the digital world. As social media, online gaming and digital platforms continue to shape everyday life, the session will examine both the opportunities and risks present in online spaces. The discussion will centre the lived experiences of minority ethnic youth, highlighting challenges such as racism, misinformation and online safety, while also exploring practical ways to create safer and more inclusive digital environments.

Join our webinar to explore the Social Model of Disability and learn how to support disabled people in your workplace. The session will help you understand how people are disabled by barriers in society or the workplace – such as inaccessible buildings or outdated attitudes – rather than by their impairments. Whether you're looking to improve workplace culture, understand how to make reasonable adjustments, or become a better ally, these sessions provide the tools to build a truly inclusive workplace. The sessions are delivered by the Welsh Government’s team of Disabled People’s Employment Champions who each have lived experience of being disabled or caring for a disabled person.

Reasonable Workplace Adjustments for Neurodivergent People
2 June: 1pm to 2:30pm
This session is delivered by a neurodivergent individual who’s learnt what sort of adaptations make her work at Welsh Government easier. It raises awareness and gives an overview of how Reasonable/Workplace Adjustments can support a diverse range of individuals. It encourages honest conversations about being a disabled person and people’s general needs, normalising adjustments as good practice.
The session is suitable for anyone – neurodivergent individuals, neurotypical individuals, employers, colleagues or anyone interested in learning more about this area. It offers strategies for a diverse range of people around jobs where individuals are currently working in an office or from home and alongside a computer.
The session will last 1.5 hours which includes a short break and time for questions.

This session seeks to debunk myths around how platforms manage hate, explore the impact of online harms such as hate, takes a trauma informed approach to disclosures of hate experiences from staff, and shares practical advice on how to tackle online hate.

Race Equality and Inclusion
11 June: 10am to 12pm (midday)
The training will explore racism and the impact on society. The various ways racism manifests including examples of racial microaggressions and language including the history of the more common words associated with racism. The lived experiences of the facilitators will be shared with examples provided to compliment the learning. Themes covered will include systemic racism, the influences that shape behaviour and the effect this has on communities. There will be opportunities to consider solutions towards building an anti-racist society and allyship.

Sexual Harassment Prevention – Employee Workshop
18 June: 10am to 11:30am
This highly-interactive session provides an in-depth exploration of sexual harassment – that is understanding what constitutes sexual harassment, how to recognise and tackle sexual harassment, and how to handle complaints of sexual harassment effectively. In the employee-focused sessions, learning outcomes will centre around equipping attendees with the knowledge and confidence to speak out against inappropriate behaviour, and understand how and when to intervene as active bystanders if witnessing an incident of harassment.

LGBTQ+ Hate Crime Webinar
22 June: 11am to 1pm
The event aims to raise awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community and what support is available if they are a victim of Hate Crime or Incident. The Wales Hate Support Centre will be joined by representatives from a local Community Cohesion Team, the Police and a charity organisation which supports the LGBTQIA+ community. This event is aimed at professionals living/working in Wales.

Group 3 – Ask and Act Champions
29 June: 9:30am to 4:30pm
Following the roll-out of Group 2 Ask and Act training to frontline professionals across North Wales, the VAWDASV (Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence) Regional Team have launched the Group 3 Ask and Act Champions training in partnership with Stori and the Domestic Abuse Safety Unit.
Group 3 Ask and Act Champions training is aimed at professionals in roles which require them to do more than "Ask and Act" and for those who perform a "Champion" role.
This 1 day training course will enable professionals to achieve the following:
- Support colleagues as they make difficult decisions in relation to clients or service users affected by violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
- Help offer services to all family members affected by violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
- Act as a VAWDASV champion and point of contact for Ask and Act enquiries within their organisation.
