The redevelopment of Central Beach Play Area in Prestatyn has been successfully completed, delivering a modern, inclusive, and engaging space for the local community.
Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and managed by Denbighshire County Council’s Streetscene department, the project has transformed the site with a new seaside-themed design that reflects its coastal setting.
The upgraded play area features accessible and sensory equipment, enabling children of all abilities to play together, while promoting both physical and cognitive development through varied and dynamic play opportunities.
Delivered by KOMPAN—who have also successfully redeveloped play areas at Rhyl’s Drift Park and Queen’s Market—the project builds on a wider programme of high-quality improvements across the county.
The official opening, supported by pupils from Ysgol Bodnant, marked a positive community milestone with strong local engagement.
Overall, the project has met its objectives of:

- improving accessibility
- supporting the health and wellbeing of residents and visitors
creating a valuable and lasting community asset
