Nursery places

Children can attend nursery from the September following their 3rd birthday. Having a place in a nursery class at a particular school does not guarantee your child a place in a reception class at that school, and you will need to make a new application for reception class.

Welsh medium education

There's never been a better time to learn Welsh. The Welsh Government has a long-term vision to see the Welsh language thriving, with a million people able to speak Welsh by 2050.

Learning and using the Welsh language offers an educational, cultural and employment advantage.

The closing date for nursery place applications for children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 was 16 February 2024.

If you've already applied, we'll let you know the outcome by 7 May 2024.

Applying after the closing date

If you're applying after the closing date, your application will be processed after all the on-time requests have been dealt with. This means your preferred school may be full by the time we process your application and, for this reason, we recommend that you name more than one preference when applying.

Late applications will be considered together, regardless of date received, against the oversubscription criteria detailed in the Denbighshire Schools guide.

If you make any amendments to an on-time application after the closing date, we will consider this as a new application which will replace anything previously received and will be recorded as late.

Apply for a  nursery place after the closing date

You must only complete this application if your child was  born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021.

If you are trying to move your child from one school to another, please complete the school transfer application instead.
