Replacement Local Development Plan (LDP) update: June 2026

The replacement Local Development Plan 2018 - 2033 is under preparation and significant progress has been made in the face of many challenges. Work is continuing on preparing the evidence base and developing policies. Delivery against the latest timetable agreed in 2022 has been hampered by a number of factors outside of the Council’s control such as the pandemic and delays in the publication of national policy. In addition, new evidence has recently emerged in the form of updated Household Projections from Welsh Government and the impact of these need to be fully considered before progressing further.

The Council is currently reviewing the remaining work required to move the replacement Local Development Plan forward and the resources necessary to achieve this.

As soon as the way forward is agreed, this page will be updated and all those who have requested to be placed on the LDP contact database will be notified.

No recommendations or decisions have yet been made in relation to Candidate Sites submitted for consideration. Site proposers will be contacted in relation to their sites as soon as a way forward is agreed.

The adopted LDP 2006 - 2021 and Future Wales 2040 The National Framework remain the development plan for Denbighshire until a replacement LDP is adopted.

Anyone who would like to be kept up to date on the progress of the Replacement LDP should request to be added to our mailing list by emailing us at planningpolicy@denbighshire.gov.uk.
